Microbiology Principles and Explorations (8th Ed.)

I rented this book through amazon for my Microbiology class. It's a great textbook - there are a lot of great photos throughout and I really used the appendix in the back quite often.

If looking at renting a digital version, I highly recommend it. It was wonderful to search the book by a keyword when needed, and I also like that it's much lighter to carry your device than the book itself.

Very interesting book that's well organized. I'm glad that it was a required book and I feel as though I learned a lot from it. While it's obviously not written for pleasure, and at times can be a bit rough to keep focus, it does enhance it's chapters with a lot of pertinent and current photos.

Medical Microbiology made memorable Steven H. M y i n t

The aim of Medical Microbiology Made Memorable, another great addition to the Made Memorable series, is to provide a core text of medical microbiology for medical students. It will also be useful for biological science courses. This book provides accessible and appropriate information that the reader knows is essential core information.

As a result Myint is considerably shorter than many of the established major textbooks, which are now too detailed for modern courses, and less expensive. Each topic is presented as a double-page spread, roughly covering the content that might be found in one lecture. The left-hand page contains the descriptive text and the right-hand page has diagrams, flow charts etc. Throughout the emphasis is on the clinical, with only the absolute minimum of systematic microbiology.

Microbiology and Immunology (6th edition)

This concise review of microbiology and immunology and its online resources are designed specifically for medical students to successfully prepare for Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), as well as other examinations. This newest edition remains a succinct description of the most important microbiological and immunological concepts, as well as a review of critical details needed to understand important human infections and the immune system’s function and malfunction.

Learning Microbiology through Clinical Consultation

An understanding of microbiology is essential for both medical students and newly qualified doctors, and is key knowledge for a working doctor. Learning Microbiology through Clinical Consultation introduces the subject with a wealth of life-like case scenarios, each linked with the relevant microbiology.

Spanning 14 categories of infection, the cases within the book allow the reader to listen-in on clinical consultations with patients exhibiting an array of symptoms. Each case then describes the examination and the specimen taking techniques. The results of the samples taken in the story provide a clear link to the more technical information on microbiology which is then discussed.

The structure of the book is laid out for easy navigation and has clear case-story headings to enable 'just in time learning' between patients, as well as 'just in case learning' when preparing for exams.

Learning Microbiology through Clinical Consultation is a highly accessible text that describes the basic science of microbiology within the practice setting in an insightful and informative way. The material is presented in an integrated fashion and is therefore an ideal text for medical students on a systems-based or problem-based course, or for the newly qualified doctor looking to consolidate their knowledge.

Essential Microbiology

Essential Microbiology is a comprehensive introductory text aimed at students taking a first course in the subject. Covering all aspects of microbiology, it describes the structure and function of microbes before considering their place in the the living world.  The second half of the book focuses on applied aspects such as genetic engineering, industrial microbiology and the control of microorganisms.
Adopting a modern approach and with extensive use of clear comprehensive diagrams, Essential Microbiologyexplains key topics through the use of definition boxes and end of chapter questions.

Medical Microbiology Flexibook

While medical and hygienic developments have driven down the mortality rates of infectious diseases, pathogenic microorganisms are still a major factor in everyday clinical practice. They are still the most frequent cause of death in Third World countries. New and incurable infectious diseases are a worldwide problem. It is inescapable, therefore, that modern medicine must redouble its efforts to understand the relationship between microorganisms and humans and continue to lead the search for new therapies. The following five subject areas are covered:ImmunologyBacteriologyMycologyVirologyParasitologyThis book provides a clearly focused and richly detailed review of the entire field of medical microbiology. It is both a textbook for students of medicine and dentistry and a useful companion for medical technicians and laboratory assistants, both at school and in the laboratory.
